Colouring In is Good for Your Brain
Colouring in has many benefits for your mental health.
When you are colouring in you are focusing on the present moment, a bit like meditation.
You go into a bit of a trance, like day dreaming. This gives your conscious brain a chance to rest, helping you to relax.
If you are more relaxed your sleep is likely to improve. Also, there are no screens involved so your melatonin levels are not affected which is also good for improving sleep.
When you are colouring in you have to concentrate so you can’t think about yourself or stress about your problems.
You concentrate on keeping within the lines (or deliberately crossing the lines, your choice) ! Choosing the perfect colour and planning which bit you are going to fill in next.
It’s your picture and so whatever you create, its right and if its wrong it doesn’t really matter, there are no consequences. It can be as tidy or as wild as you want it to be !
It’s a creative escape not a test.
